The Augustine Bunker

Header

Built for a remote property in the mountains, this custom Augustine container home was designed to be a hunting cabin and private retreat. The build combines warm, rustic finishes with extensive upgrades focused on outdoor living, security and preparedness.

Inside, burned pine walls, black-stained pine ceilings and a wood-burning stove give the cabin a warm, mountain feel. Two bunk beds provide additional sleeping space, while a fold-down table makes efficient use of the compact interior.

A 40-foot rooftop deck is accessed by a spiral staircase, with additional railing designed to accommodate a hanging hammock. The roof was also reinforced to support a future hot tub. Exterior cladding and secure shutters over the windows and doors add another layer of durability and protection.

The most unique feature is hidden inside the garage: a custom floor-access hatch connecting the container home to an Atlas underground bunker below.

From the rooftop deck to the underground access, this Augustine was customized from top to bottom for its one-of-a-kind setting.
